The difference
Receipts, not bank feeds
Most expense tracking apps start from your bank or card statement. That tells you a merchant name and an amount, which is enough for a budget but not enough for bookkeeping — it can't tell you the tax you paid, whether the total included a tip, or what you actually bought.
Working from the receipt gives you the detail the statement threw away: subtotal, tax, tips, total, and a category, each as its own field. It also means Awesome Receipts never asks for banking credentials, because it never needs them.
The trade-off is honest: a bank feed catches spending you forgot to record, and this doesn't. If you never keep the receipt, this is the wrong tool. If you do keep them and dread typing them out, it's the right one.

Tracking expenses is only useful if the data can go somewhere. Free accounts export to CSV. Pro adds XLSX, PDF (per receipt and in batches), and a Google Sheets connection that syncs your current receipts into a sheet rather than handing you a download that's stale the moment you take it.

Can I track expenses in more than one currency?
Yes. Set a default currency in Settings, then override it on any individual receipt. Currency is not read off the receipt image — it comes from your default so the export column is always populated.
How do I get my expenses into a spreadsheet?
Export to CSV on the free plan, or XLSX, PDF, and live Google Sheets sync on Pro. Every extracted field becomes a column.
