Collection, not entry
Every receipt app promises to save you data-entry time. That's rarely where the month goes. The month goes into asking a client for December's receipts, waiting, asking again, and finally getting a folder of photos in an email thread.
Anything that requires the client to download an app, create an account, and learn an interface makes that worse. So the client path here is deliberately thin: open a link in the browser, or forward the receipt to an email address. No install, no training.

Honest limits
What this doesn't do
There is no direct QuickBooks, Xero, or Sage integration. You export CSV or XLSX and import, or bridge through Google Sheets. If posting straight into the ledger is non-negotiable for your practice, Dext is built around exactly that and it's a fair reason to choose it — the comparison is here.
There's also no multi-entity administration and no per-client user management. This is a way to capture receipts and get clean data out, not a practice management platform.

Can I use this to collect receipts from clients?
Yes. Clients can forward receipts by email or snap them in the browser, and the extracted data lands in an export you can pull whenever you need it — no app install to talk them through.
Does it integrate with QuickBooks or Xero?
Not as a direct integration. Export to CSV or XLSX and import, or use Google Sheets as a bridge. If direct accounting integrations are a hard requirement, Dext is built around them — see the comparison.
How accurate is the extraction?
Good enough that reviewing is faster than typing, not good enough to go unreviewed. Every field is editable before export, and the original image stays attached to the record so you can check anything that looks off.
Can I search across a client's receipts?
Pro adds full-text search across merchant names and notes, plus date-range filtering and job/project codes.
What file formats can clients send?
Photos from a phone camera, image uploads, PDFs (including multi-page), and HEIC files from iPhones, which are converted automatically.
